Gmatwacz

A 8 track electronic album (38m 4s) — released October 24th 2019 on Czaszka Records

It's been a busy year for Mateusz Wysocki. First his split EP with Persuasion, then a tape on Pointless Geometry by duo IFS (with Krzysztof 'Freeze' Ostrowski), and a solo release titled "α-ribbon" on Pawlacz Perski. A few other exciting projects are on their way.

We're happy to have another chance to present you Fischerle's solo work. "Gmatwacz" starts where 2017 "Post-functional dub objects" finished. "Mylar" takes us to a familiar territory, inhabited by dub techno creatures. Quickly changing, the second track drifts somewhere else entirely. Mateusz mentioned he decided to suck the bass and the space from his music, harnessing new approaches to producing, and letting it see where it takes him.

The effect of these experimentations and abandoning old habits is astonishing and diverse. The tribal rhythms are tangled in impossible structures, at the same time disorienting, hypnotising and fun. Fischerle introduces new elements to his music as vocal snippets (in "Materac (+Patalax)") and field recordings (a car engine, chicken crowing), which grounds his compositions in (magic) reality. The track titles, lost in translation, sums up in the best way the playful nature of "Gmatwacz".

As the middle part of the album is an exploration of novelty, the closing track "Miglanc" returns to Fischerle's best recognised style. Czaszka is excited to accompany him on this journey, and we're simply blown away by this new chapter of his work.
